My work resembles a bunch of bubbles released into an alien atmosphere. Bubbles have become a dominant and subliminal cultural metaphor, especially when they burst. Think of the dot com bubble, the real estate bubble, the banking bubbles and soon the student loan bubble. But it’s more than that, everybody lives in their own bubble. These bubbles are translucent so you don’t see it. They’re edgeless so you don’t feel it. It’s a sphere, not a cube. If it was a cube eventually you’d back into a corner, and you’d feel it. Not that that doesn’t happen, but most of life is lived inside our own world, in our own thoughts, feelings, observations, and evaluations. It’s a world view that is created and we do the creating. We’re at it all the time and like it or not-it’s what we humans do. And we’re good at it.
